STEM Week

03/22/2020

Earlier this month a few of our members took part in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) week at a local primary school, where we spoke to a number of classes about our degrees. The aim of the visit was to show the students the variety of STEM degrees which university has to offer in the hope of inspiring their interests in this field.

A big thank you to Kelsey, Gwynneth and Emily who came and talked to the P2s, P4s and P7s. Kelsey talked about her undergraduate degree and PhD- she's currently centred around Tropical Ecology. Gwynneth came in and shared about studying to become a Vet.

Here is our new president, Emily, showing the kids an experiment relating to her degree: Environmental Geosciences. At the time, the class were studying earth dynamics, including volcanoes, earthquakes and oceans, so they were thrilled by this experiment and had plenty of questions for her!
